One page, one answer
License
Everything on Colorosse is free to download and free to use in commercial work. The only thing that changes between assets is whether you have to credit me.
The two licenses used here
| License | Credit | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| CC-BY-4.0 | Required | Free for commercial use. Credit required. |
| CC0-1.0 | Not required | Public domain. No credit required. |
The license that applies to a given asset is printed on that asset's own page, in the specs box and next to the download button. When they disagree with anything written here, the asset page wins.
You may
- Use the assets in free and commercial games, on any platform.
- Modify, recolour, resize, remix and combine them with your own work.
- Ship them inside a compiled game, an app bundle, or a printed product.
- Use them in client work, game jams, tutorials, prototypes and portfolio pieces.
- Use them in a project that also contains assets from other creators.
- Redistribute them, including as part of another asset pack.
You may not
This list is short, and deliberately so: everything on it comes out of the licenses themselves rather than being added on top. A Creative Commons license forbids the licensor from attaching extra conditions, so anything not below is allowed.
- Imply that I endorse you or your project, or that we are affiliated. Crediting me is required for CC-BY-4.0 assets; suggesting I approved of what you made with them is not the same thing.
- Apply legal terms or technical measures — DRM, a restrictive resale license — that stop anyone else from doing what these licenses permit.
- Use the Colorosse name or logo as your own trademark. Creative Commons licenses cover copyright; they do not license trademarks or patents.
Two requests, not conditions
Neither of these is enforceable and I am not pretending otherwise — the licenses above already grant you the right to ignore both. They are here because asking is the honest version of what other asset sites write into a license they have no right to modify.
- Please make something with these rather than rehosting the packs. A mirror of this catalogue helps nobody who could not already download it from here for free.
- Please do not feed them to a generative model trained to produce competing asset packs. Every file here was drawn or synthesised procedurally so that it could be given away cleanly, and that is the part worth keeping.
How to credit
For CC-BY-4.0 assets, the credit line is generated for you on each asset page — copy it and paste it wherever your credits live: an in-game credits screen, a README, an itch.io page, a video description. All of those count.
The line looks like this:
"Wooden Panel UI Kit" by Oğuzhan Girgin, licensed under CC-BY-4.0 — https://www.colorosse.com/assets/2d/ui/wooden-panel-ui-kit If you have room for only one line of credit for the whole project, crediting Colorosse — https://www.colorosse.com covers every asset you took from here.
Attribution is not a formality
Credit turns into a link, and links are what let a new site get found at all. That is the whole business model: the assets stay free, and the credit line pays for them. If crediting is genuinely impossible in your medium, use one of the CC0-1.0 starter packs instead — they carry no conditions.
No warranty
The files are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. They have been opened and checked in the engines named on each asset page, but nobody can promise a file works in every version of every tool. If something is broken, tell me and I will fix it.
Questions this page does not answer
If you are unsure whether your use is allowed, ask before shipping — hello@colorosse.com. A one-line answer costs me nothing and saves you a rewrite. See also about and privacy.
